PRESS: The Company

Our Pressing Mission

PRESS Modern Massage: Independently owned & operated since 2008.
Our goal is to be the BEST part of your day, every day.

Press's Origins

Established in 2008 by Rachel Beider, PRESS Modern Massage originally made an impression on New Yorkers as “Massage Williamsburg”, “Massage Greenpoint” and “Massage Outpost” in DUMBO. PRESS grew out of the desire to unify all of the award-winning massage studios under one family name.

Drive Behind the Business

Rachel grew up with scoliosis and knows firsthand what it’s like to struggle with pain and search for relief. After becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist, Rachel worked for a surgeon who performed mastectomies for women with breast cancer, assisting recovery with massage. She later worked for a physical therapy studio on injuries and in preventative medicine. This fueled her desire to create a space for helping and healing through science-backed, clinical orthopedic massage.

PRESS Modern Massage continues to serve an ever-growing list of communities in New York.

Further Work

In addition to her leadership at PRESS, Rachel helps other wellness professionals start and grow their practices through her consulting business.

Rachel is a member of the AMTA and the Young Entrepreneurship Council, and sits on the Boards of Pacific College and The Swedish Institute.

Her book ‘Press Here: Massage for Beginners’ helps readers learn how to massage at home to relieve pain, alleviate tension, increase relaxation, recover, and prepare for physical activities.

Business Should Have A Heart

We’re building an ethical and caring business from the inside out by providing competitive pay for employees, supporting local businesses, and regularly volunteering in our communities. We strive to leave a lasting impression on every customer and community we touch.

In 2019 our studios received the “HERO OF THE MONTH” award by the Borough of Brooklyn for our work with the communities affected during the Government Shutdown.

A percentage of our yearly proceeds goes to support both local community organizations and international groups that promote equality, women’s rights, and to fight sex-trafficking of women and children. Here are some of the organizations we support.
